The Heart of Art with Autumn Skye - A 7-Day Painting Workshop Retreat
May 1st - 7th, 2026
All painting experience levels are welcome! No painting experience necessary.
Over seven days of studio time, students will bring a blank canvas through a journey of the painting process, while exploring inspiration, intuition, and technique. Through multiple daily demonstrations and attentive one-on-one support, Autumn Skye will guide students as they work on their paintings, covering the journey of materials, application, concept, composition, “blocking & bridging”, colour theory, refining, glazing, and finishing.
All painting supplies and tools are included!
Hosted at Skyelight Studio at Heartwood, a forested sanctuary retreat space north of Powell River in the qathet regional district. During free time, students are welcome to explore the beautiful forest and gardens, soak in the wood-fired hot tub, relax in the library and common areas, or continue painting.
Prices include all painting supplies and tools (canvas, brushes, and palette are yours to keep!)
Lunch & Dinner options available: Meals will be professionally prepared fresh on-site, and will feature in-season, local, and organic ingredients where possible. Vegetarian and allergy-specific options are available by request.
Accommodation options available: 4 bedrooms in the main house, 5 cabins, as well as car or tent camping in the forest. Campers and cabin renters will have access to the “Forest Kitchen”, a fully set-up and enclosed kitchen with an open-air private hot shower, double vanity sinks, and composting toilets.

Our cabins share bathroom facilities, an open-air on-demand heated shower, composting toilets, and a covered camp kitchen. These are in a separate building 20 feet away in the Heartwood camp kitchen.

Please Note: This item includes a comfortable, well-lit private room in the basement of our home. Queen-size bed. Shared bathroom. Stair access.

ALL MEALS + SHARED ACCOMMODATION (Hemlock Cabin).
Please Note: This item includes SHARED accommodation in our larger, bright, and very comfortable cabin at Heartwood. The unit has two queen beds and one desk/work-area. This cabin will be shared by two guests. If you wish to book both spaces in this cabin - please let us know, and we can offer a discount.
Our heated cabins share bathroom facilities, an open-air on-demand heated shower, composting toilets, and a covered glamping kitchen. These are in a separate building a few hundred feet away in the Heartwood kitchen.

*Please note that Heartwood is our home, and meals and indoor accommodations will be inside our house. We have three lovely dogs and two cats as part of our family, and though the spaces will be thoroughly cleaned, allergens may be present in the house and studio.
